False CCJ on my credit search

Options
Hi all,

Looking for some advice

I just checked my credit file and there's a CCJ showing on it from 2009, however I haven't had a CCJ against me. The status is listed as "Active". Some background..

We had a dispute with our property factor over their bills. We were refusing to pay as their bills were completely wrong and about double what should have been charged. They refused to negotiate and raised a court claim against us. At the last minute they backed down, accepted they were wrong and we settled the bill based on the lower amount we believed we owed.

The CCJ on my file relates to this, but they dropped the case before the court date and we never got to court.

So, how do I go about getting this removed (in Scotland) Nothing clear about it online with various dubious looking companies offering to do it for a fee...

Does it appear on the registery trust list of judgements (searchable on the registery trust website?)
If so then you do have a CCJ against you - and the court must have gone ahead with granting the judgement - allbeit perhaps incorrectly.

You would need to get a copy of the judgement from the court and them talk to the court about it for advice.

Odd that it would be on your credit file- as the credit reference agencies get their CCJ information from the registery trust. All you can do is query it with whichever of the credit reference agencies files it appears on.
