Council Tax Arrears help

Been to citizens advice and can have an appointment tomorrow morning. They have said do not let the bailifs gain entry in the meantime. I have now received a really threatening text message to say - need to contact before midday today, if no contact made then removals will attend your property after lunch to remove goods. £250 for the removal van plus VAT then 2 men who charge £60 each hour and there will be a fee for the locksmiths, storage and auctioneers fees.
We want to pay off this debt at the original agreed amount of £150.
Not sure what to do now and very worried0 -
Sorry
You cannot pay it off at £150 - the bailiffs started to add fees as soon as you let them in the house. You will have to pay the fees as well - or at least those that are legal.
Can you get hold of your local councilor this afternnon and beg them to get the bailiffs off your backs for 48hours so you can talk to CAB?
And why not ring NDL or CCCS?If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I just want to say a huge thank you to all who gave advice much appreciated. Have now spoken to our local council and they will contact Bailiff firm to advise that we are only to pay the original arrangement amount of £150 because we are not behind with the payments. Have noted not to be a day late again0

They need to be able to seize about £10000 worth of stuff from you to cover this debt.
They cannot do that, so they should return the debt to the Council.
Herbie21 runds and advice line but it costs. In your situation it may well beb wiorth the cost.
Thanks RAS, assume you meant £1000 and not £10,000?
How to we get a statutory declaration concerning the computer. Once received do we contact Bailiffs telling them of this declaration, and also telling them that they cannot remove all the dinning chairs and both settees. Also the TV in question was a christmas present for my son but no way of proving that except it is linked to his gaming products. The items listed will no way cover the £1,000 anyway.
It was absolutely appalling the way in which these companies can treat people. I wasn't at work on Monday but they rang there 3 times, rang me god knows how many times in the morning saying that if I didnt respond by lunchtime the removals and locksmith would be out to remove the goods. Then they sent only what I can call a threatening text msg.
Anyway enough rambling from me0
