Confused with halifax mortgage

Hi all,
just seen this article on the sun

im on an SVR at the mo... had a letter a few weeks back saying i have had £2,000 taken off my mortgage as a 'good will payment'

will i be affected with this CAP RISE?

should i fix a deal now??!!!
think i can get it fixed for 2 years at 4% (paying 3.5% at the mo on SVR)

The payment you've received is retrospective. So don't be panicked into a rush decision, there's no need.

thanks, but can i assume that halifax will raise the SVR rate and if so will i end up going up with it?

The majority of lenders will be looking to raise lending margins over the coming years, more so if BOE base remains extremely low as has been widely forecast.
