Hi,
I recently moved to Plymouth to study at the uni and I am struggling to find any cheap shops to shop at. There are all the big shops but I was wondering if anyone knows of any discount shops like home bargains or joblot (they sell surplus products / things that are reaching there BBE date)?
I moved from up north and there seems to be loads of shops like that there, but when I look at the store locators for plymouth (or anywhere south!!!) there doesn't seem to be any!
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
Thanks, Scubaferret.

Hi Scubaferret welcome to the land of rain and expensive shops
I moved here 3.5 years ago from the midlands and I too was amazed at the lack of decent discounters.
Anyway, last time I went to town there was a shop at the bottom near the KFC on the edge of the market selling cheaper frozen food. I assume its still there lol.
There is also poundland near the big tv screen on town.
If you go to Plymstock theres a 99p store.
But to be honest thats about it. I think just buying the value brands from the supermarkets is about the cheapest you're going to get around here or there's always lidls or aldi (lidls is cheaper).
Sorry I can't be of more help0 -
Hi Scuba, I'm also in Plymouth & unfortunately we don't have bargain shops.
There's a Continental food shop at the bottom end of town, in Cornwall Street. Also at the bottom end of town, if you walk through LLoyds TSB & out of their back door into the car park there was a chinese shop, I've not been there for a year or so but assume it's still there. The things I could recognise looked pretty cheap especially the spices.0
