Dinner set - quantity error in advert, where do I stand?

I recently bought a set of dinner set from a catalogue which was advertised as followed:
8 x dinner plates
8 x side plates
8 x bowls
8 x placemats
8 x coasters
When the item arrived it only had qty 4 of each so I queried it with them. They advised they must have sent the wrong item and would resend the correct item and would make arrangements to collect the wrong item I had received.
The replacement came and it was qty 4 of each again, so I emailed them again saying I would keep both sets but would only expect a charge for 1 of them.
They have replied to me with the following:
Having received a reply back from our marketing department, it appears to have been an error on the item description on our website.
You are only supposed to receive 4 of each item rather than 8.
This has now been amended, please return the items if they are no longer required.
We apologise for any disappointment this may cause.
Where do I stand here?
I am using the plates and would not have ordered them if they were qty 4.
Any advise please. Could this come under false advertising?

Unless someone can advise otherwise, there's probably very little you can do, and I'd also say, it's probably unlikely they'll give you any recompense for the inconvenience [though you could try].
You could try contacting Consumer Direct though I'd imagine they'd most likely say the same thing. There are plenty of alternatives to their 0845 on SayNoTo0870.com.
Check out the Consumer Rights guide as well.0
