5 bed detatched, rural, 1 acre of property.

No porridge munchers and a good local country pub.

Bit of a bite there Hamish, you sure you havent lost equity on your bothy?

Did the house you sold also fall by 30% or where you one of the fortunate first time buyers who can afford a 5 bed detached, rural 1 acre of property (but if its in Sunderland, Newcastle or Middlesbrough don't bother posting a link - whatever you paid for it I am sure it will be worth less next year).

100K deposit. was on HPC from 2005-2009 (back when it wasnt infested with extreme leftists), whilst living in married quarters. Despite being told by many on here that I was an idiot and that I should just buy. Well, repo purchased for 30% off (repo of a repo actually). Difference being we paid 30% less than the previous owners.

Living 20 mins outside Cheltenham thanks!

Then you have the advantage over the majority of posters on here by having lived in pretty well subsidised accommodation for what seems to be a relatively long period. I doubt that many on here are other than renters or owners (but renting from profiteering landlords rather than the more caring MoD).

You should post the info I suggested and teach these doubters a lesson.

I'm sure other FTBers sitting with a £100k deposit will be cheered by your example.

Well Im alright jack. They should have worked harder at school and not have been led like a little sheep when people were paying 5X salary for a shoe box with the promise of riches.

As for FTBFun, you can search for my old posts on HPC if you really want to be a nibby so and so.

My first property was a new build flat, and that was some 30 years ago. Providing you treat it as a ladder to climb and plan accordingly. Then moving to larger property is achievable.

Negative equity happens at a point in the cycle and will do so again. It doesn't mean people have to be stuck forever. Bradley Stoke anyone?
