We did our mortgage application over the phone on thursday with halifax,an adviser phoned friday afternoon and said she was from the processing team and she is dealing with our application, she said she had gone through it and had checked our previous address and everything is fine they just need to get the property revalued as the home report is older than 3 months. She has not yet asked for any more information, what is the status of the application when it goes to valuation? Is an offer likely?
Thanks in advance.

The offer is subject to the valuation being acceptable and the case being checked and approved.I am a mortgage broker. We are in a similar situation. We've applied through a broker to Halifax and received a decision in principle. They wanted some documentation to prove our income which we provided, and my broker called Friday to say they won't make a final decision till they have seen the home report, which was done more then 12 weeks ago so needs to be refreshed.
The wait is killing me, we originally put an offer in on this property on 28th October last year!
I'm told this is the final stage on an application and the lender is unlikely to ask for a refreshed home report if they don't want to lend to you..but I've heard/read so much conflicting information over the last 3 months I don't know what to think!
Hopefully its good news for both of us!0 -
i had my mortgage with halifax around year and a half ago all went smoothly never asked for any proof of income etc was amazingly quick. i moved house about 6 months ago and posrted my mortgage and was a nightmare said my income wasnt sufficent for the mortgage i had when i already had the mortgage i was just porting. was worth it in the end wrote a big leter about the proccess and they gave me £700 for inconvenience0

The home report was refreshed on friday morning so really hoping to hear in the next few days, the people we are buying from are really pushing for us to conclude they are scared we will back out,but our solicitor won't untill our mortgage offer is through.
Its just taking so longbut its the surveyors we were waiting for,do they automatically send a copy of the updated home report to the halifax or do i have to inform them its been done.
Hope there's news for all of us this week.0 -

Bit of a snapshot, just because you are with a lender doesnt give anyone the right to port that rate. If you circumstances had changed and you were now on 57p per annum, I wouldnt agree again irrespective if you are making the payments now.
Miss payments on the new mortgage and it would he more difficult to repo you if you dragged your heels.0
