First time I have ever seen this on any cc account. Is it normal?

OH's (2) Barclaycards are old Egg ones. One carried a nil balance, the other was £25 in credit. They haven't been used since they were issued as the Egg replacements.

He logged onto his account today just to check things and under the BT section there was a message stating something along the lines of 'you cannot BT as there are no offers on your account'.

Now he didn't want to BT so it's no big deal, but I'm surprised he could not do a BT at all, even at whatever the standard rate is on the accounts for transfers.

Also...is the accrued cashback due to get paid next month as it would have been if it were still Egg?

  • It's very unusual. Most cards allow you to BT at any time, but I've heard of this with Barclaycard before.

Any changes to the cashback payment would have been advised in the letters from Barclaycard.
  • I always had a 6.9% LOB offer on my account until a few months ago. Now it blinks in and blinks out. A couple of weeks it's there, then it disappears with the message you got.

Not sure if it's anything to do with my spending/overall balance/whether I take it up - no theory quite fits.

I'm not stuck for credit so I'm not too bothered. But it is a bit weird.

We just get naff 6 months 0%, odd times 0% 12 months
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

We took advantage of a 6.9% for life on one account but haven't had an offer since.

Two other cards (one ex Egg) have piffling little 0% for six months. One with a 2.9% BT fee, the other with a 3.9% fee.

It seems to depend which day of the week it is frankly.

I have about 4 accounts with BC and one being the former Egg card. About a week ago I logged on and had good offers on 3 accounts but my former Egg card the offers had disappeared.

A few days ago I checked and there is now an offer shown for the last mentioned account.

A few years ago when all my offers disappeared completely, I rang BC and they said they get a regular feed from Equifax and because the
score was low (too many short terms searches) they could not consider me for any offers. However about 2 months later I started to receive them.

It may have something to do with your credit file but of course all guess work.

That's interesting. The only thing that's different with regards to our finances is that Tesco recently wrote and said they were upping the limit on the account from £3k to £5k. It was unasked for and although we do spend on the card, we clear it every month (we just use it to collect Tesco points).

I wonder if that has a relevance.

As I said earlier, it doesn't matter as we didn't need to transfer, I was just curious as I'd never seen a message like that before.

    Thanks all.
