Bit funny this one coming on a bankruptcy forum where i reckon 80% of the people have lied to someone over debt or income...

and where do you get that idea from?

Just because someone has taken the difficult decision to declare bankruptcy does not mean they are somehow less moral or more dishonest. I really resent that comment, and it is typical of the abuse you get as a bankrupt on a very frequent basis

so...reporting benefit fraud is now no longer acceptable?

    80% of BR are liars?

Gosh, being a bit conservative, aren't we?

    A bit of a generalisation?

Do not confuse lying, with denial!

    Denial is something entirely different.

    Come on, money-where-mouth-is time!

As far as I can tell, BR's are a darned sight more honest than those who frequent other forums on MSE......especially about income....and especially to those who, by Law, need to know.

Don't forget to include the self employed in your generalisation category of liars. Question - what does this make self employed bankrupts?

According to a letter i received from my local council today

    QUOTE

Historically other authorities and ourselves have found that customers who work for themselves will promptly apply at the beginning of a fallow period but not then notify of an upturn in their takings which are only then revealed on annual review.

To be fair, ( why should i be fair?), they did add

    QUOTE

This said there does appear to be a depature in your circumstances and some permanence to the reduction in your earnings.

    UNQUOTE

How much more permanent does several years have to be to prove a " fallow " period. It is clear it is not going to change, anytime soon.

My other halves brother is in partnership with oh and they have a farm bankrupt brother is now taking all money from income of the farm and saying he is paying off bankruptcy order. However I am a bit surprised as I know this would not be like him! Question is will we be liable further down the line if said brother is squandering the cash and not paying it off the £150k odd that he owes HMRC for vat? And how would we go about legally advising HMRC we are not getting any of the money and that he is taking it along with various benefits etc he is claiming fraudulently?

What a nasty mean comment I find it very offensive. At least as bankrupts we have faced up to our problems not buried our heads in the sand. As for the OP,s question yes you must report him its a no brainer.

This question really needs a new thread starting.......it's a bit of a thread resurrection, to say the least?

    Maybe the mods could assist?
