Im a teacher and have just been told that I need to dress up as a book character for world book day on thursday!!
I cant use ebay because Im unlikely to get it in time and also don't want to spend a fortune!!
The cheapest outfit I have found is £50
cant afford that and hire is expensive too!
Does anyone know where you can buy / rent cheap fancy dress costumes?
Thanks in advance x

Or you could just use a bit of imagination and go DIY, it sets an example to the kids and should work out cheaper. You could also have a prize for best home made costume to discourage one-upmanship.
for example say you wanted to be Mr Chips out of goodbye Mr Chips you could hire a graduation gown for about £10. If you or a friend have a tuxedo you could be James Bond. Have you go friends who would wear a uniform to work you could borrow, or you could go really cheap with a bit of sheeting and be Julius Caesar. If you have an old fashioned double breasted jacket stick some braiding on with fabric glue and wear a captains hat - you could be captain nemo, black trousers, a stripy top, doc marten boots, braces and a sailors cap you could be steamboat willie or para handy, the scarecrow out of the wizard of oz is easy, you just need a gingham shirt, a waistcoat, old floppy hat and some gafe tape and some straw. Good luck0 -
all you need is a cap, cut some clothes up to make them raggedy wooden fruit bowl and wooden spoon - there you go -please sir can I have some more!0

Do you have a red and white striped top or t-shirt and a red and white wooley hat? If so you could go as Walley from where's walley?Best Wins of 2010 = Apple ipad & £100 Dejager vouchers:j:jJune Prizes = Kids Card game, Miners nail polish set,L'oreal million lashes mascara.0
