Then despite being on this forum for some considerable time. You fail to understand or simply wish to ignore the real issues facing the banking system. The BOE identified the problem some years ago and was included in a report into the wholesale funding markets published in May 2009.
The subsequent withdrawl from the UK mortgage market of virtually all foreign banks has merely added further pressure.
Simply put there isn't the funding available to maintain mortgage lending at its current level let alone expand it at the current time.0 -

May I ask a question?
What then has happened to all the money pumped into the banks - QE etc. - & their agreement to ease credit for small business?
They appear to be very good at taking money but sadly lacking at keeping their side of deals when it comes to even sensible lending.
Even those who can qualify for mortgages & have deposits are often finding it tough.0 -

Indeed, I worked for a finance company in the 80's when if you wanted a personal loan (for a lot less than a mortgage) the applicant would be asked questions regarding their income and outgoings and would be required to submit evidence ie bank statements, wage slips and bills etc. If there was anything considered 'dodgy' they were interviewed.0 -
The Daily Mail is an unpleasant newspaper.
No it's not, no worse than the Marxist Guardian. Sure, it prints a lot of headline grabbing stories and its fair share of inaccuracies, but then so do all the Left wing papers.
What it does do and perhaps the only paper that does (along with the Telegraph occasionally) is print stories that the Guardianistas, Marxists and multicultis don't like.
It's amazing the number of people who wish to slag off the paper, but the truth is, that it is the second best selling daily paper.
I stand back and wait for the cries of, racist, fascist, homophobic, Islamophobic, anti immigration, et al. Quite frankly I don't care, water of a duck's back. These are all words used by Marxists to close down freedom of speech, expression and thought.0 -

I don't know why people buy newspapers of any kind. To greater and lesser degrees they prostitute themselves based on ridiculous headlines that pull in the gullible and feeble minded.
The Sun on Sunday has launched today. What sort of idiot is going to buy that? Who can't see that it's just filling a gap left by the disgraced news of the world?
I fear that many can't get beyond the headlines and given the sloppy jounalism we suffer it means vested interest groups find it easy to get inaccurate headlines printed on their behalf.
It wouldn't be so bad if the views of newspaper editors weren't thrust down our throats on a daily basis when newspapers are reviewed (usually with a guest hack) on current affairs TV programmes.0 -

HYPOCRITE!!
You are no better than the self serving newspapers you claim to dislike.
You on this board(and probably others) have an agenda that is bordering on obsession and then use any means to censor/put down or slander any one that dare articulate views that counter your own.
I personally have no idea in what form this property market is going to play out, and have said so on many occassion. You on the other hand KNOW what and how it will happen, and God help those with a bear stance that disagree with you
Nasty bit of work0 -
