Petrol in Milton Keynes

I'm currently spending about half of my time in a village near Milton Keynes. Whilst there, I'm needing to fill up my car with petrol regularly for the journey back home.

Can anyone suggest the best place to buy fuel? Prices seem to vary considerably and even daily. I've found the pricing on petrolprices.com is often out of date and has changed when I arrive at the petrol station.

Is there one station that is always consistently the cheapest? I'm currently using Tesco at Kingston, but this is a little out of my way.

The cheapest seems to be Asda in Bletchley, or any of the Shell garages but they are tucked out of the way.

Try www.petrolprices.com and put in the postcode where you are working/staying.
  • I recently moved from MK to Northampton but still get my petrol from MK and I use tesco Kingston. I'm not driving all that way just for petrol but while I'm there visiting friends I top up my fuel as MK is usually at least 3-4p cheaper than Northampton even though its only 15 mins down the m1. I agree that asda would maybe be 1p cheaper but tesco give u club card points.

Asda is normally around 1p a litre less than Tesco... but I get mine from Tesco as I have a Tesco credit card and get points, so works out better for me.

    Thanks for all the replies.

Asda in Bletchley is on the other side of Milton Keynes to where I am, so it would probably cost more to drive there than I would save!

Filled up yesterday at Tesco for 133.9p, which isn't too bad. I'm told one of the Shell garages on Grafton Street is often a penny cheaper than Tesco. I'll try this one next time I visit the station.

The main reason for my question is that petrol is 138.9p in my village or 139.9p in the neighbouring village, which seems extortionate!

Today was interesting as I drove round MK.

Village: 138.9p this morning, up to 139.9p this afternoon
    Tesco: 134.9p

I then drove through to MK Central Station, taking a small diversion. Total wanted 136.9p, BP 140.9p and Shell on Grafton Street 134.9p.

I can't believe how much the prices vary with such a short distance between filling stations.

The two garages by Snozone always seem to be way more expensive than Tesco at Kingston.

  • Asda is normally around 1.2p cheaper than Tesco or Shell@Graffon street. Never go near Shell near Tesco bletchley as it is a rip off and always 3-5p more expensive than Tesco even though they are few yards away

Shell on Grafton Street is consistently lower than most. I get the emails from petrolprices.com and its usually best. The others (Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Stacey Bushes) are often reasonable but fluctuate.

Oops just checked today and Asda is slightly cheaper at 138.7, and Morrisons and Shell on Grafton next at 138.9. The rest are over 139.

    Isn't petrol expensive now?!
