if your guitar player can strum ...just show him the chords, tabs will only confuse the issue, if he's going to "fingerpick" he can simply go over the chords using the root bass notes...as I said before...
D, G, A, Bm and F#m...if he can't follow that, tab will mess him up and if thats not your key, it's easy for him to transpose or use a capo...different key...try...
C, F, G, Am, and Em...if he's not great at barre chords, at least he should know those ones...lol
