I have a project and its to raise at least £12K by September of this year topay for my LPC in London. I am doing it over 2 years at weekend so when I go toLondon, from Northern Ireland, I shall be seeking a full time job etc. I knowall of you are raising an eyebrow about now, especially when I stage my age of38 but I consider this to be a worthwhile project not only for myself in life, happinessetc. but also a money exercise to see how little one needs to survive on toremain happy and if this can be done: first year is about half but the more itcreeps to 12 the better. I shall be made redundant in August; am single, nodependants; and slowly killing of my debt to date.

OK positive suggestions only :D

By raise £12k do you mean borrow £12k? or earn the money between now and September?

If its to earn / raise funds yourslf then the up your income board might be a good place to start. If its to borrow £12k then it would help if you provide more details (although I suspect it won't be possibly if you are already aware you are being made redundant), though you could look to see if your course would be covered by a career development loan.

@Tixy I have already tried TESCO Finance and it seems i failed the credit check; fair enough as i have too many silly debits coming out so (got iPhone and a Blackberry so i'm going to buy myself out of the Blackberry contract). Car HP is to come to an end next January so either will try to flog car on Gumtree; sell to family member; or ask for settlement figure on that. Then cancel gym membership and walk!
The school is closing but there is a probability that i may be redeployed but i am, toying with the idea of just moving to West Ham for the duration - hard graft to find work will pay off i am sure. Redundancy quoted is £6k.
@boobies I have a BEng. (Hons) in Engineering and a LLB (Hons) - was a late bloomer! So it is the practical LPC you need before the training contract stage.

Have you checked to see whether you are likely to get a training contract at the end of it, this may not be easy when you are around forty.
