Notice of correction help

Hi hope somebody can offer advice, having recently reviewed my credit file for free i noticed i had one default  against me from orange mobile company in january 2009. The bill was too high to pay off in one lump sum so i had to arrange to pay over a period of 8 months which i did. I was phoning up to cancel my subscription to experian before the monthly charges started and he was very helpful he said it may be of use to write a notice of correction so that if i was to apply for credit the company would have to do a manual check due to the notice of correction, anyway my question is the company is paid and settled, i understand the purpose of the default been applied but is it wise to write a notice of correction saying due to other financial commitments i was unable to pay the high bill and had to arrange a monthly amount to pay for several consecutive months until the account was settled? Thanks in advance :o

It certainly won't do any harm to add that. Experian claim that a NOC will stop automatic credit scoring and force the lenders to read what is on your file before deciding.

Not saying it will do wonders, worth putting on I suppose.
