I had a letter from Red today too threatening Hamptons legal which doesn't really bother me that much these days cos i feel as i am still paying i am not in the wrong- after ignoring Lowell because i am too ill to deal with things properly...for a debt with Argos that i am still paying at £10per month via Standing Order and yet they never let me know they were going to do this-so i feel i maybe on a bit of a winner here because isn't the correct procedure that Argos should have sent me notice of this? How is it lawful for them to pass me on like that when they agreed my paying so much each month albeit taking many years..with no end in sight.
It's awful that people can be passed around without any control at all.

I had letters from Lowell and now Red detailing an amount owed to a retailer but i have a standing order set up making payments albeit lowish due to illness and low income-but the matter here is retailer never sent me any letter stating they were turning it over to DC can they lawfully do that without my knowledge when making payments?0

What about when Lowell and now Red send letters out re debt with retailer with which on a standing order payment and retailer never told me they were doing that yet still money goes into their account as part payments-what can i do? I've put this on the other Red thread as my posts seem to get lost !0

Red/Lowells/Hampton are all the same company, so the debt hasn't been passed on to anyone else.
If you read the small print on the letters, they will say that xyz is a "trading style" of Lowell Portfolio.
Just keep the SO in place and don't let Lowell's imaginary sub-companies intimidate you.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
