I took £80 out about a year ago, paid out fine. It has had zero effect on my credit file

I wouldn't belive this, what lender would lend you money if they did a credit search and noticed you didn't have enough money to survive for a month? (e.g. Living outside your means)

PDL's are viewed as very bad since you'd only normally take one out to cover you if you cant afford to live for the current month

Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
