What is the best nail hardener?

Options
I had gel nails for a few months and then finally managed to have them taken off. My lovely strong nails are now thin and weak :( so I've been using Opi Nail Envy but it doesn't seem to be doing a lot. I'm keeping them short (no choice) and filing with a glass file.
What can I do?
I have realised I will never play the Dane! :(

Where are my medals? Everyone else on here has medals!! :p

Try Leighton Dennys Bio Build. It either comes as a serum on its own or a set with serum, shielld and a gentle remover.

Its not a paint on strengthener - you massage in into nails an cutilcles an it strengthens inside out.

I used it for the first couple of months along with his crystal file (far better than any glass file) when i first removed my acrylics after ten years and found it really helped. I still use Nail Envy as a base coat when i use polish as i found the sheild made my polish peel off sticker style.

Also keep your nails well oiled and remember it'll take at least three months for the damaged part of the nail to grow out.

  • I loved leighton denny stuff but recently had more luck with opi nail envy but last time I used it I used it for too long and my nails got too hard!
if your on facebook go onto leighton denny page and look at the documents they help determine what treatment you should use :)
  • I don't think hardeners really work in the end at all, the only thing that ever works for me is using some kind of nail oil, cuticle oil or using lots of handcream and rubbing it into my nails. Moisturing them is the best way to strengthen them, as well as protecting them whilst washing up etc.

Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle worked wonders for me when I gave up having Acrylic Nails and I still swear by it. I do find that after using it for a while it makes the nails go a bit of a funny colour though so is best used under polish.

It also helps if you massage lots of thick hand cream into your cuticles every night just before you go to sleep. I use cheap and cheerful Aqueous Cream.
