I am currently doing a self debt management. Argos have agreed my figure of £20 per month but with interest 9% and on asking how much this would be each month, I wasinformed £14.00. Therefore, paying £20per month would only reduce my account by £6.00 per month. I was also informed that the amount nowoutstanding is £1,740.24 almost £100.00 more than originally informed.
I have sent the usual letter requesting interest to be stopped - which they have ignored so again I have sent another copy asking for a reply.
In the meantime I got a statement from them showing I paid £20.00 but they are charging interest at £38!
Any help would very much appreciated

When did they agree the 9% and have they sent it writing?0

received a letter from argos dated 20th Jan 2012 accepting my payment of £20 but no mention of interest so I rang them and thats when they mentioned 9%.0

Ok so working back this statement you have is probably for that period. Call them and check they probably will only have changed the interest from the day you rung. But check. Therefore you won't see it till your next statement0

ok thanks. I'll wait until next statement because I am still pushing them for a reply to my letter, at least I will have it in writing.0
