Can anyone help, My friend has just recieved a cheque for her holiday pay, this has come at the end of her maternity pay, I dont believe I have had any holiday pay included in my maternity pay, I have searched the net to see if I am entitled to it, but cant find any information.
Has anyone heard of this and if so can anyone advise me where I need to look,
many thanks

I got holiday pay during my Mat Leave. My company's holiday year ends on 31December and they paid me for holidays that I had not taken before my Mat Leave started and also holidays that I had accrued whilst on Mat Leave, worked out at 8 days altogether, which came in really handy as Mat Allowance isn't a great deal!
I do know that you still accrue holidays while you are on Maternity Leave so I would have thought your company would have to pay you for those?
Sorry can't really be much more help

Have you looked at the tigre site ? (that should give you a clear indication of your entitlements). You accrue holiday entitlement for 26 weeks (ordinary leave) and then for the remaining 26 weeks you should accruehoiday entitlement under thwe working time regulations.samcantcope wrote:Can anyone help, My friend has just recieved a cheque for her holiday pay, this has come at the end of her maternity pay, I dont believe I have had any holiday pay included in my maternity pay, I have searched the net to see if I am entitled to it, but cant find any information.

Thanks for this, I only worked for a small company and I dont think they included the holiday pay, will check out the site
Thanks for the advice much appreciated.:beer:0 -
yup - as said above you should continue to accrue (not sure about spelling) holiday while your on maternity leave so if your leave runs over the end of your companies holiday year then they would owe you holiday pay.

For both of my pregnancies i read up about maternity rights as the small company that i worked for at the time liked to keep schtum about this kind of things. I saved up mine so that i could take 2 weeks right before maternity leave kicked in then as soon as i was back to work i would declare when i wanted to take the remainder of the 2 weeks. Two ladies that i worked with (including the manageress) kicked up a stink as they didn't get it when they had been pregnant but they were told tough luck

Before i went on maty leave i had to clear my holiday pot out as i had money to be paid out, when i returned back it would be a new financial year so i would of lost my money - however i have been back at work for nearly a year in April and i'm meant to get 20 days per year but because i was on maty leave they weren't going to give me them just 15 days as i wasn't "entitled" to them. Which is a load of rubbish.
I got it sorted though after talking to union reps at work, Always ask for anything your entitled before you leave because most companies won't pay out unless you ask.Baby number 2 due April 2010, were having a girl!!! :j0
