Living Social expiry dates

Hi,

I wanted to let people know about a problem I've had with Living Social recently.

I use their Ipad app to access their deals and manage the deals that I've bought but unfortunately it seems the expiry date displayed in this app always uses an American date format even if you are in the UK.

Recently I had a deal that I thought ran until April 2012 only to find out that it actually expired on 4th January.

My experience with their customer service was simply that this was not their problem, that their 'small print' did outline the correct date (it does) and that they are therefore unable to offer any form of refund.

Thought I would flag this up to see if anyone has had a similar problem, I will be looking to take it up with my credit card company now as I think it is a reasonable expectation that they provide accurate information as to the validity of purchased deals.

Best Regards,
Mat

  • I agree Mat very big difference between us and UK date format
  • Yes really there are differences and we feel its impact when we change place or comes contact with somebody from US or UK.

I have exactly the same problem with cinema tickets the iPhone app had my vouchers stored as expiring on the 2/3/12 which I read as the 2nd of March and not the actual date reported as 3rd of Feb which I only realised once it had expired and could no longer see the voucher in the valid tab.

    LivingSocial response was:
Unfortunately, it is not possible to re-issue the voucher once expired. The full date is written on the voucher and is displayed on the deal when launched.

Anyone know what our consumer rights are regarding this?
