How to clean LCD screens?

Basically, as the title says, what is a safe way to clean these screens? I've been advised a lot of cleaning products can damage them. Any advice much appreciated.

    Hi Ben,

I use a damp microfibre cloth then buff it up with a dry microfibre cloth. If there is a residue or something sticky on the screen then add a little vinegar to the dampened cloth.

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together.

Well, I've just successfully cleaned the LCD screen I'm looking at right now with the MSE OS universal cleaner mix of equal parts of Stardrops, white vinegar and water. Just one spray from the bottle onto one of those blue paper cloths at arms length was all it needed.

PS. I am a professional IT technician, and I've lost count of the LCD screens I've cleaned. Not that I was counting in the first place. I have never encountered a case of damage to a display by cleaning it with the wrong stuff. The "proper" wipes contain Isopropanol or isopropyl alchohol. I've also used medical pre-injection wipes, which contain the same stuff. I am firmly of the opinion that the warnings of death and destruction about using the wrong stuff have been put about by the people who make the expensive screen wipes.

my TV came with a little cloth and instructions to dampen it slightly and rub over the screen - then buff with paper towels.
The cloth is exactly the same as those supplied by opticians for cleaning spectacles - and it really works well! no chemicals required! I now use it on computer monitor too!
oh - one tip is that the screen should be COLD not warm when cleaning it!
