How can I find out if I have been paying for Payment Protection Insurance
Hi Folks
I had a loan for a period of approx. 5 years which finished about 2 years ago. I think I have even destroyed all the paper work!
Is there any way in which I can find out if I was paying a bit extra each month during the loan period for PPI? And if so, can I claim it back. (it's been in the news again recently)
Thanks in advance for your response.

I just sent egg an email asking if i had any payment protection insurance on any loans or credit cards with them.
They replied with account numbers and some forms to fill in.
I was very vague with some of the questions and told them i couldn't remember some of the details.
They replied with a letter saying which accounts had ppi and which didn't and they would deal within 8 weeks. they refunded me £1700 on one account which was used to reduce a credit card debt with them and sent me a cheque for £374 for another card i had with them.

Check your original agreements and your statements should also show any payments being made to PPI.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Hi Folks
Many thanks for your replies so far.
I took the loan out with the AA, so I think I will be sending them an email requesting them to look into any PPI payments that I may have made during the period of my loan.
If it turns out that I did make PPI payments, would they need to refund me the money?

Depends on whether you have a case that the PPI was missold. Not all PPI was/is missold - you need to have a case as to why it was in your particular case.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
