Well this year OH will take me to the crem in the morning to take some flowers for my own MUM, then he will drop me home and go and see his own Mum and spoil her for the day. I will sit and wait in doors and see if any of my kids decide to pop round or not. My youngest still lives at home but she will probably be sleeping round a friends Sat night.

If no one turns up I have set the sky box to record the Grand Prix so I will sit and watch that on my own.

Aww Rufus I hope they all come out to see you xx

I have asked for no presents this year, I would love a handmade card from my daughter but I wont get my hopes up she is two and my hubby doesn't tend to do craft :( A lovely relaxing day, no tears or tantrums and a lovely homecooked meal (have asked for my favourite) and for everyone to clean up after themselves. I understand it may be too much to ask, we are but human but one can dream ;)

I sent my mum some flowers as it is lovely when surprise flowers arrive, judging by the response they didn't go down well solely because I spent money. So I urge anyone looking to spoil their mums, give them some attention, a handmade card but do the money saving thing and avoid the overpriced shop bought gifts, they don't go down anywhere near as well as you would think.
    Comping wishlist for 2017
    1. Family holiday 2. Christmas presents :rudolf: 3. Fishing stuff

  • Aww Rufus (hug) here's hoping your children surprise you this year.

I will be taking flowers to my mums grave, then my cousin is coming for a cuppa (our mums ashes are buried together). It will be nicer than it sounds, when we get together we have a laugh and a natter whilst we play with my kids.
I know my kids have got me a mug as DD can't keep secrets lol. I am just hoping it arrives filled with a cuppa and I will be happy :)

Then it will be off to the MIL for her to sulk at her gift (no matter what we get her she hates it, even if she asked for it?!)

And IF I get my way it will be ice creams all round for pudding after tea!

  • I have 2 teenage children who over their primary years made various mothers day gifts at school, all of which I've kept. But this year I've had the most incredibly mothers day gift EVER from my 5 year old. His teacher organised 'lunch' for all us mums (or another special female in their lives if mum couldn't make it). We had a personal invitation from our child, on arrival at the school we were met by our child and taken to our seat to see our own special placemat that'd been made by our child (these had been laminated so spillages won't ruin it!), we then had nibbles and drinks. After a few minutes each mums child brought out a bread roll they'd made and with it we had a selection of cheeses and pât! with crackers. Our children then came to take our tea/coffee orders and brought us our own cake they'd each made and decorated. The attention to detail was amazing, the staff were incredible but our children were the best! We then joined other mums in the hall for a special mothers day assembly where each class stood up and did something different for their mums, whether it was a poem, showing a painting with 'I love my mum because...' or one of my personal favourites was reading out 'mum-erisms' - typical sayings your mum says to you!
I wasn't particularly looking forward to this mothers day as my husband is away with work, we don't have much money and I have 2 teenagers...so no more! But I don't care anymore, yesterday was the best afternoon I've ever had. Priceless and memories that'll last forever.
Two of us are organising a collection as a thank you to the staff involved.

I'd be happy with just a text from either of mine - best I don't get my hopes up though.
