    Slightly over 4 times income.

Hardly worthy of making the top 10 most expensive markets in the world then....

Apart from it's Plymouth AND Devon.

You could just as easily pick £125k and £19.8k and say 6.3x I suppose you should use the £26k making in just under 5x

I bought a property outside London but in prime commuter land thus although it no doubt cost more than 4x local salaries it was not too bad for my salary as I often work in London and hence get a London type wage. Those I bought from moved to Bournemouth and bought a retirement property. Surely this explains how 'high' house prices compared to local incomes are not necessarily 'unaffordable'.

I think they mean unaffordable for locals, michaels.
For Londoners who sell up there are very few other places in the UK that they would find unaffordable.
  • Bournemouth attracts a whole load of dole whallers and other scum who would rather be unemployed permanently on the south coast than back in Liverpool.

I know, I saw them all the time I was in Bournemouth and even worse I rented a place in Boscombe for a year which was just about dole whaller central.

I am not disagreeing with you - my very badly made point is that it is not impossible for an 'unaffordable' housing market to persist long term if there is a disconnect between who the buyers are and who the locals are.

  • It wont last.

How long before they want to sell while property still defies gravity?

The property bear market is about to take a turn down,.
The thing about chaos is, it's fair.
