So I have a loan, credit card, overdraft and Littlewoods account.
The loan is fine, with HSBC and I am having to pay £160 a month on that which I don't have an issue with but after splitting from my husband last year I haven't been able to pay my Lloyds credit card and Littlewoods account.
The loan I took out for £7000 with HSBC was for my husband to study which he did and got a nice qualification for free with the loan in my name and after he cheated on me I split up with him and he is refusing to pay anything towards it. We do not have any assets together so I have got the loan down to £4500.
My issue though to get to the point is now I have ignored my Lloyds credit card which has a £3000 limit but because I haven't paid I now have charges bringing total owing to Lloyds to £3600 and Littlewoods £1200.
The debts have been passed onto SCM Solicitors for Lloyds and onto Lowell Finance for Littlewoods.
Ideally I would like to combine this debt and pay it off. I can afford probably £100 a month to pay on top of the £160 a month I am now paying on the loan.
How should I tackle this? Should I call each of them separately and do this.
If I had my way I would whack the Lloyds credit card, Littlewoods and £2000 overdraft into one debt and pay that off at £100 a month until it's paid off.
Who would you recommend?
I've spoken to some other companies in the past and they said I should cancel my card with HSBC as they are going to inform the bank I cannot afford to pay them anymore which I thought was scary?!
I want to conglomerate the debt but leave the loan with HSBC if that makes sense...
Please help- I am being harrassed by these debt collection people.
Sorry this is long winded. xx

Now I have no knowledge to help you but something off the wall has hit me, can you prove you used the loan to pay for your husband to study - was the money taken from your account and paid directly to his college/university/whatever so there is a financial trail that can be followed, if so then I would have a word with a solicitor about suing you husband for the money. I know other wives/husbands have done this so long as you can prove the money for this.....
Sorry cannot help you with the other things, but someone will be along soon who will most likely shoot me down but give you good advice.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Hello! Thanks for your reply. Yes I have proof of transferring at least £3000 to him and his college. How much do solicitors cost??? :-(((0

I think you can get a half hour of advice for free...just enough to have a scary official letter written
HBS x"I believe in ordinary acts of bravery, in the courage that drives one person to stand up for another."
"It's easy to know what you're against, quite another to know what you're for."

If you've already defaulted on some of these debts I think you will probably struggle to find a loan or anything you can use to consolidate your debts. (Often these are a bad idea anyway as people tend to end up further in debt from them).
Can you use that £100 to the debts as they are? Does this cover at least the minimum payments?
If not posting your SOA on here may help people give you some advice on where you can get some extra money from your budget to make your payments.0
