    Hi and welcome

    What is your current salary?
Is may well be that you were declined based on afforability (or what the lenders percieve as affordability). When you apply for a new loan they'll consider if you can afford this on top of your existing debts (they don't take into account you intend to consolidate).
If you are already struggling with some repayments and mother is helping out then perhaps your salary is fairly low and they don't think you could afford to service that extra debt.

Does your car finance have the option to hand back the car? and then you could possibly look to just buy a cheaper runaround for a while?

Alternatively - you say you don't want to refinance through Ford because they'll try to sell you a new car - well just be firm as say you are not interested in a new car at the moment, but would like to know whether you can refinance to pay the balloon off in installments - and ask them what the APR would be if you do this.
A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give
or "It costs nowt to be nice"
