Yes it is ok for you to pay an appropriate amount of all the bills including the mortgage and to put that on your soa

thats exactly what i have been told

if they really have a problem with it, your partner pays the mortgage, you pay the bills and it works out 50/50

partners arent charities and why should they subsidise you?

As above the insolvency helpline dont give out advice based on individual circumstances they can only give general advice, so if you ask could i have a beneficial interest in the property, then the answer is yes, in reality though that BI is so small as to be insignificant, but the guy cant say that because he can only give the general advice
Hi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.
Please note that any views i put forth are not those of my former employer The Insolvency Service and do not constitute professional advice, you should always seek professional advice before entering insolvency proceedings.
  • I had a similar set up, but I didn't inform the IS that I was living with my partner...I just simply gave them my SOA with my half declared as rent. I had split from a nasty man only a year before meeting my ex so I made my new partner draw up an agreement of what I would pay towards living in the house as "rent" - I wasn't aware that this was wrong and that for OH it is classed as income (his flatmate moved abroad and so I filled in his half paying role so to speak!). I just specified it as rent and no questions were asked...
