Hello can anyone please advise me about henna, I have black hair and have a few greys coming through, really dont want to use harsh chemical hair dye, and really want to dye a few strands rather than all over
Has anyone used Lush hair dye? the Noir colour
There is so much on the web about henna hair dye and im just not sure which way to go and which brand to use, Ebay seems to have some but I want to see if anyone can recommend me something here:) and what did you think of henna and most importantly the time the colour lasts and does it condition too?
Thanku x

I havent used any of the lush henna so i cant comment on that, but i use henna and i mix it with indigo to make a dark brown with a hint of red. Henna boy is where i buy mine from and they have a very good reputation. Make sure you buy BAQ (body art quality) henna always. Henna is very conditioning for hair and can make hair glossy & feel thicker as it coats the hair. Henna is permanent, the only way to remove it is to cut it off, but if you use indigo then indigo can sometimes fade over time. If you want your grey hair to be black you have to do a two step process a henna base first then once that is done you then do the indigo. I do mine in a one step process to get dark reddish brown. If you put henna alone onto grey hair it will usually be bright orange in colour. There are many different 'mixes' that you can do with henna and other products. You need to do your research and find out the right mix for you, depending on the colour that you want to end up with. Hth.0

If you wish to dye just a few odd hairs I would recommend using an old toothbrush.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Hi
Also have dark brown/black hair with the odd grey coming through and I use Lush henna (I've used the noir, rouge and marron) on my hair. I've found them to be great, none of them noticeably change the colour of my hair as it's so dark, but they all colour the greys, plus they leave my hair in great condition and super shiny.
Downside (as you may have seen if you've read the reviews) is that the process is quite laborious. I didn't find it particularly messy and I don't grate the blocks, but I do leave it on my hair for 4 - 6 hours at a time, and do it every 4 - 6 weeks although it probably depends on how often you wash your hair.
Well worth the results though, and much nicer than the harsh chemical dyes that I'd used previously.
Oh and when you're in the shop, I'd recommend buying or trying to get them to give you a sample of 'ultrabalm' to protect your hairline from being dyed. My free sample pot is still going strong 6 months later and I use it for all manner of things (dry skin, lips etc). It seems to be never ending!0 -
I forgot to mention that the lush henna is in premixed colours of hard blocks. As opposed to the dry sand like henna that i use which gives the usual henna orange colour which one would expect. I hope this makes sense!0
