Hi Joe,
Glad to see that you are moving your account completly after your previous post regarding this matter.
As for ID I have no idea. Maybe they will ask you to drop it into a branch with it? Its unlikely that its because its basic account. I had to still show my passport and utility bills when I opened a Abbey basic account.

Ah...another potential problem I might have - my Barclay account is one of those Additions accounts which have a monthly charge of £11.
The overdraft is obviously on the DMP, and this money is automatically deducted from the account. How would I go about stopping this (or attempting to stave off the account fee)?
Or in this case, do I bite the bullet, eventually pay off the overdraft and then cancel the account?
Sorry all, I'm being rather silly tonight.Chuffed to be member 11 on the DMP mutual support thread.

what happened to this thread? what did you decide to do?
i have a lloyds platinum a/c with a charge of £15 per month, an agreed overdraft limit of £750, currently £650 overdrawn, never been over limit. But due at last trying to sort debts i have opened 2 basic bank accounts (just in case of what i'm not sure). i will cancel/transfer direct debits i can pay to a new a/c where salary goes, but what should/can i do with the lloyds a/c which i won't use anymore (currently offered £1 token payments to all creditors, not heard anthing yet)

Can you not just downgrade your account to the one without the fees? I understood that 'additions' type accounts are just that, an 'upgrade' to a current account, not a different account all together. Just tell them you can't afford it and want to downgrade to a standard current account. Then pay off the overdraft little by little.
Unless the fee paying account allows access to services such as a greater overdraft or cheaper interest rate, in which case it might be better to keep it
