Whats considered as a good eye test

I went for an eye test a while ago and they did a couple of tests which were
Me looking into some binoculars at a green light DIRECTLY.
In the same binocular a puff or air was blown in each eye, one at a time.
Then i went to get my eyes tested and when my first eye had some light directed at it (maybe around the pupil) by the doctor for around a minute, i collapsed and they sent me to the hospital. They checked me and said it could have been stress related.
So i would like to get my eyes tested again but in the minimum time possible as you can imagine. At the same time i dont want to have an eye test thats going to be a waste giving me false results.
Could anyone advise, what a decent eye test should include and what i can refuse to do, in order to get complete results?
Thanks

To be honest the question you're asking doesn't really make much sense to me. I don't think they're in the business of doing extra tests for no reason - the only thing I can think of as optional was the photograph they took of the back of the eye. I think the question is more what triggered your problem last time and what can you do to resolve it so you can get an eye test.
What do you think the problem was? Were you feeling stressed at the time? Maybe some rescue remedy could help with this?
Others might know if there are bits you can skip but I'd be pretty surprised TBH0 -
Eye tests are pretty standard everywhere these days, If i were you i wouldn't miss any part of an eye test, your sight is far too valuable.
The tests aren't painful, i don't like the puff of air one either but after my last test, this procedure highlighted that the pressure in my eyes was higher than it should be. Within 24 hours, i'd had laser surgery to correct this. If it hadn't been detected, i could have lost my sight very quickly with very little warning.0 -
I always have to stifle fits of the giggles during eye tests. I can't help it. It starts when the optician starts peering into my eyes through that magnifying thing, usually pulling funny faces while they do it.0

I have worked in optics for 12 years now and have experienced customers collapsing during test on many occations. What i would suggest is you ask them to do all the prescreening tests (pressures, photo etc.) after the main test (to obtain your prescription). You can refuse to do ANY part of the sight test - it is your choice what is done. If you refuse to do say the pressures test (can show if you have glaucoma)for instance then the optician will make it clear they cannot be held responsible for not picking up on problems relating to pressure and make a note on your record.
