Credit Report/File

Options
Good Afternoon,

My finances are currently on the way to recovery after years of money problems. As a result my credit file is pretty bad. My girlfriend of a year has an impeccable report and has managed her finances very well throughout her life.

My question is, if she was to move in with me, would there be any chance of her file/report being damaged by moving in with me?

I will not be getting a joint bank account and would continue to run our finances separately.

Hope someone can help with answering this question, thank you.

Keep your finances separate with no joint accounts, credit etc, then there should be no effect on her.

Thank you for the quick reply. Ok, so if she was applying for a loan/morgage/credit, there's no mark against my address?

Adverse data is not recorded against addresses any more, so as long as she is applying only in her name then it should be fine.

The mark goes against people (you) not addresses. However, if you have joint accounts, loans or bills then you will be "financially linked" and your history will affect hers. She should probably check her credit file to make sure that there is no association at present.

I'm not certain, but if you are both on a rental agreement you may be financially linked.

Paying rent doesn't report to your credit file, so they wouldn't be linked.

My ex-partner and I rented, we were never financially linked on our credit files. But I had a mortgage with my partner before my ex (ex-ex? lol), and we were linked for ages until I could be bothered to submit a notice of disassociation.
