Welcome finance interview!

Ok, so my OH has an interview with them.

Im really concerned they are a bunch of sharks, who have made peoples life miserable, but I dont want him to be without a job either.

Can anyone give their opinions of this company? I dont mind if its bad feedback, I just need to know, as his last employer stiched him up for £1000 in expenses unpaid, and I have read bad tings about them on CAG and here.

Regards,

Loop

  • If you never miss a payment then they are ok, used them once never again though.

  • Loop was asking about her OH WORKING for them!

Personally speaking I couldn't work for any Company like them or even on the telephones to harrass people into paying money they haven't got.

If your OH needs a job urgently and is offered it, then why not. He can always apply for another job straight away.
  • I can read thanks. If HE is collecting money normaly and the people are keeping up their payments then there is not a problem. If they are not then maybe he could reason with them rather than strongarm.

  • Is it cold-calling, or addresses that have been given to him?

addresses given to him I think, the other people will be cold calling the appointments for him to go in a sell.

Im very stressed about it now.

  • Hi,

Don't know if this will help but I used to work for a recruitment company who had the contract to supply staff to Welcome, they do have a very high turnover of staff (mainly due to the nature of the work and unreasonable targets). We would fill vacancies only to have the candidate stay 1 week max and then have problems refilling. In the end, we had to pass the contract over due to not being able to fill the vacancies. I suppose it depends on the role he is doing but I know that in sales roles, the targets are set deliberately high to protect the company from high commission.

    Hope that helps! Sarah x

    Thank you Sarah,

This is what happened with a previous company my partner worked for, in the end no recruitment agency would touch them as they had such bad reputation. Jani King, they owe him so much money its unbeleiveable, he had a case with tribunal and small claims, but he is such a placid guy, he never took it further, and was just glad to get out of there minus the £1000 in wages and expenses.

So Im right to feel nervous. He is leaving in a bit and travelling a way to this interview, worried.

Though saying that I have never known any door to door company that has a low staff turn over. Many people think it is an easy job... do a few, get the signups and then just mark the rest as out or not interested etc. Even if they do stick at it for a while then the not a bad job in summer becomes much less attractive when it is rain and snow you are walking through to knock on strangers doors.

From what the OP says it does sound that they arent doing the true cold calling so I dont think it would be as bad as their jobs but as with any sales job, the targets will be high and ignore the "OTE" salary that they quote.
