Hi
Just out of interest card protection plans - the ones where if you lose your wallet one phone call gets new ones sent out, old ones cancelled and so on.
The only thing I have found in the search is that these might be associated with mis-selling.
Aside from this, anyone have any views as to the value of these? Some of the benefits would appear to be covered by the travel insurance policy I have and some are additional. I have had this for a while but I am considering the necessity of it, so thoughts please everyone
Thanks

Hmmm, not sure if they really are worth the cost in my experience. Sure, they have all of your card details (as long as you have kept the list up-to-date!) and will cancel all cards following theft/loss after you call them, but on MSE website there is a comprehensive list of contact numbers of card providers (including loyalty cards), so you could do it yourself and save £30-40 per year.
After having cover for 10 years, I recently reported the theft of my purse containing money, loyalty and ID cards. The card protection company cancelled the cards immediately, sent me a letter to confirm this within 2 days, but 2 phone calls and 2 weeks later, still no claim form for replacement of the purse (part of the cover). After a week, when I phoned to ask the whereabouts of the claim form, the agent apologised and said it looked like the previous agent had forgotten to send it! Won't be renewing!0 -
It is always a good idea to code your card-cancelation-number into your phone and carry a small note on you should your card go missing. There is realy no need to pay money for that service as it already exists.
Our bank will send another card out immediately and free of charge. Unless its a repeat occurance.0
