I want to buy a Kitchenaid foodmixer - best web price in the UK £299. However, in the USA I can buy it for about £120. If I purchased an electric transformer does anyone envisage any problems..........??

That's also my plan! A friend regularly visits the States and she's bringing me one back this year..... (As much as I adore this mixer, I refuse to pay over inflated English prices) ! My boyfriend is an electrician and he said there would be no problem using it with an adaptor thingy, (which can also be found cheaply on the internet). :T0

Thanks for confirming this for me! I hoped I was right but wasn't overly confident of doing this. I absolutely agree that the UK inflated prices are appalling. Looking forward to being a proud new owner now!!!0

A Kitchenaid is really brilliant and they really do last a lifetime. But they're quite heavy - how are you getting it back to the UK?
I'm not doubting your forward-planning, I'm just curious!0 -
I just came back from Chicago and saw them in cream at Macy's for $150 plus tax. It didn't occur to me to bring one back and use a transformer. D'oh!Hoping this year is better than the last.

make sure your pricing up the correct step down transformer, its not a simple travel plug thingy
find out the wattage of the machine and add some to be on the safe side....bigger 240-110 step down transformers are q expensive0
