Dp really really doesnt wanna do a speech, out recpetion is very relaxed party style so not going to be very odd not doing one....
BUT
Due to our very budget wedding we have had so many people helping us out with little bits Id love to acknowledge their help in some way, what do think of the idea of a thank you board maybe with the postbox? Just to show our appreciation for certain people??

I think that would be lovely. Are you thinking of sort of table plan type board? How would you do it? I'm not sure if I'd put details of what people helped with or if I'd do a list of those who had helped. I think if I didn't put what people had helped with I would put something like "In no particular order" at the top in small font. I wonder if it might be a good idea for us too, as lots of people have helped us out!
You would have to be careful though not to miss anyone out though!!!First date 10.2.2002

What a fab idea!
I think I am going to pinch this for my wedding too.
I like the 'in nor particular order' line too.
This sounds really quite unique and I'm sure guests will really appreciate it.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
sounds like a few of us will be borrowing your idea :beer:When you're chewing on life's gristle, don't grumble, give a whistle.

It's quite a sweet idea, but it could make the people who HAVEN'T helped out feel a bit bad.It might just be better to put a not on the order of ceremony or something saying "Thanks to all of our friends & family who have helped us to put together this wonderful day" then maybe just give personal thank you notes to all involved.
Obviously you'll know your guests best though.
As someone else mentioned, if you are going to do it, check, double check, and tripple check that you haven't missed anyone out.0 -

You could put at the end of the board "thank you to everyone else for being a special part of our lives and celebrating our marriage with us"

I think it's a lovely idea
Perhaps put that bit at the beginning, so it's actually a board to thank everyone who has supported you and been a part of your lives, with 'special mentions'.
Something like "Thank you to you all for being a special part of our lives and celebrating our marriage with us.
Special mention, in no particular order, goes to..."
Makes it look a bit less like the 'everyone else' bit has been tagged on as an afterthought, IYSWIM!
It is a great idea, well done Crowdpleaser! :T

It is a great idea! You could have it a bit like the titles at the end of a film, or in cartoon style speech bubbles. Ie like a Batman 'Splat' or 'Holy Moly' (Or what ever he says!) but 'Cake - Mrs Smith' Etc,
Well - I can imagine it!! It looked good in my head...

Hi,
Sounds a good idea. I think it's a good idea to thank everyone for been there & sharing your special day as suggest too. I went to a wedding last year that was very low key & there were no speaches not a problem. However it was a 260 mile round trip for me & not one person thanked anyone for coming which narked me a bit(I know it was my choice to go but a thanks for coming to everyone would have been nice)Married the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.
