I must admit I never heard of that company seem to be based in NE and Scotland
"Semichem is a modern high street retailer that has been making an impact in the towns and cities of Scotland and Northern Ireland for over 30 years.
Established in Scotland in 1977 Semichem quickly became recognised as a market leader in health and beauty discounting especially in branded fragrance.
This successful business operates over 140 High Street stores across Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England."0 -

Low self discharge rechargeables (eg, Hybrio, Eneloop, Good2go etc) are a much better deal in the long run. Lidl and Aldi sell packs of 4 for £2.99. At that price, you only need to use them twice to equal this and after that, they are almost "free". Plus, they are a lot better for the environment!0 -
Does depend what you use them for, I'd say rechargeables are more cost effective though. Not sure if I'd recommend Lidl and Aldi's batteries though.
Hahnel Synergy are a favoured battery of photographers if that's what you're into though VapexTech and Sanyo Eneloops are also very good as well. Cameras tend to eat batteries, so better to go for something that lasts for convenience.
I actually bought some VapexTech last year and to be honest I actually find them a bit too tight, I even nearly broke the front light of my bike trying to remove them. Annoying as I have to keep the part where the bulb is held with a small elastic band, though not too annoying as it still works [luckily].
Also consider getting a delta-v circuitry charger as this will help with the longevity of the batteries. A delta-v charger should prevent overcharging as overcharging will damage the batteries.
Also, NiMH batteries are generally prefered over the old Ni-Cd batteries as they appear to last longer (low self discharge). You can also get lithium batteries though these tend to be quite pricey and can be a bit tricky to maintain.
As for the charger I bought a 7dayshop 808LCD battery charger back in September, charges both AA and AAAs and is currently £5.19, this is dirt cheap as I paid £7.99 and thought that was cheap. It also has a handy discharge function which re-conditions the batteries and may be used to help revive tired and poorly performing batteries as well.
2.02% cashback with TBC and 2% with Quidco for 7dayshop by the way.
You can also find a review on low self discharge batteries here which is also worth checking if you're intending on getting rechargeable batteries.0 -

Not sure on Lidl and Aldi but other good buys better than the one I found are posted above, seems like a lot of stores are clearing out on Duracel....;)0
