my wife has just done the same and they will alter your pay between now and april so you will get a extra amount in this month pay0 -
If that tax code is for this current tax year 2011/2012 then your tax will be adjusted in your next pay. It might not show as a rebate as such, you will just pay less tax. They adjusted my Mum's before Christmas in the same way.0

Thank you for the quick reply, one thing tho, do you think I'll get a big tax drop or will I not notice it? I'm trying to figure it all out :-@0

Assuming your not a higher rate tax payer £158. That is 20 % of the difference between the 2 codes :-)0

Are you sure the 826L is for 11-12? As they're just issuing the 12-13 Coding Notices.
If it is 11-12 ........ then that's an extra £790 in allowances. Which suggests (it should tell you?) they have rolled up the previous years all into 11-12 - as it's too much for a single year?
In tax terms the £790 translates to £158 'refund'. As we're 11/12ths of the way through the tax year you should get £145 of it 'back' in Feb pay and the rest in March. You may notice it as a reduction in tax rather than a pure refund ... depends on the tax you normally pay. Equally - the £158 is if you're paying at 20%? Double it if you're into the 40% rate.If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
