What has happened to the Webb Group?
On 2 March 2012 Francis Graham Newton and Paul James Bates of BDO LLP were appointed Joint Administrators of Webb Group Limited, Webb Ivory (Burton) Limited, Choices UK Group Limited and Book Club Associates (“the Companies”) which operated the following brands:
- Goodwill
- Love Lavender
- 18 Plus
- Choices UK
- Razamataz Entertainment
- Razamataz Books
- Simply Entertainment
- Simply Sound
- BooCA

Why are the Companies insolvent?
The Companies did not have the money to pay its liabilities as and when they fell due.

What is the role of the Administrators?
The Administrators are licensed insolvency practitioners who were appointed over the Companies in court. This process places a moratorium around the company and stops all legal actions.

The role of the Administrators going forward is to collect in the Companies’ assets for the best price possible for the benefit of the Companies’ creditors. Once the assets are collected in they will then be shared between the creditors of each Company.

What does that mean for me as a customer?
The Companies have now ceased to trade. As a result of the Companies insolvency, the Companies are not in a position to fulfil any customer orders placed with the Companies prior to the Administration.

Shortly before the appointment of Administrators management of the Companies took the step to place any funds they could identify in relation to pre-payments into a separate bank account in an attempt to protect monies that had been paid by the customers in advance. The Administrators will look to refund these monies to the relevant customers in due course. Please note that it is not currently certain as to whether all pre-payments were transferred to the separate bank account meaning that there is a risk that not all customers will receive a refund.

It is understood from management that no payments have been taken from credit cards where goods have not been despatched. If you believe your card has been charged and you have not received your goods you should check your statement to ensure you have not been charged. If you have been charged and have not received your goods you should contact your credit card company.

Other than monies placed in the separate bank account, any amount owed to you as a customer of any of the individual Companies will rank as an unsecured claim against that Company, which means that you will share in the realisations of the Company’s assets along with all other unsecured creditors of the Company. How much you actually receive will depend on how many creditors lodge claims and what amounts those claims are for. It will be several months before the Administrators are able to tell you what amount you are likely to receive.

Will I get my money?
If your prepayment was not placed in the separate bank account, at this present moment in time it is too early to say whether there will be any funds available for unsecured creditors. This is dependent on future realisations of the Administration.

In the mean time, the Administrators would appreciate your patience and will seek to keep creditors informed of the progress of the Administration.

What does that mean for Suppliers and other creditors?
At this present moment in time it is too early to say whether there will be any funds available for unsecured creditors. This is dependent on future realisations of the Administration.

What if I have delivered goods that have not been paid for?
Please send details of the goods that you have delivered and the amount that you are owed in writing to the address above.

Should you believe you have a Retention of Title claim please supply details of your claim to the Administrators immediately.

How do I make a claim?
Details of your claim should be forwarded in writing with all supporting documentation to:

Post: Webb Group Limited – In Administration
c/o BDO LLP
1 Bridgewater Place
Water Lane
Leeds

Email: info.webbgroup@bdo.co.uk
Phone Number: 01793 698029

Will the Administrator be writing to me?
If you are a creditor of the Company you will be receiving a letter from the Joint Administrators shortly.

I have emailed or written to the Administrators already but I have not heard anything?
The Administrators are endeavouring to respond to all queries as soon as practically possible. Due to the large volume of correspondence they request your patience.

Any other questions should be sent in writing to the Administrators using the details above.
Please note that the Administrators act as agents of the Companies and without personal liability. Paul James Bates and Francis Graham Newton are authorised by the Insolvency Practitioners Association to act as Insolvency Practitioners.
