Transferring Private Pension into QROPS

  • I looked at QROPS but there do appear to be a lot of spivs around it and few if any real companies working with it. Numerous email conversations with people just went into the ether as they found I could not be conned so easily and was asking more provoking questions than they were prepared to answer.

Like the rest of you I presume, I found QROPS when seeking a way to get my hands on all of my pension pot before I die and definitely tax free. Also like many others, I found it isn't as simple as that.

You know there is something wrong when you see the quality of information which comes up when you google QROPS.

    Hi Movingaround,
It is a shame you did not get more information from your manager as there is so little information that a first hand (even if second had) account would be very informative.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.
  • This is exactly what the HMRC is currently legislating against. At present however, John could do exactly this via a New Zealand QROPS.

Under the existing rules John would have no tax to pay to HMRC and, having lived outside of the UK for 5 years, neither John nor his QROPS provider would have to tell HMRC anything about his withdrawal.

John's QROPS fund would not be subject to UK IHT, regardless of his domicile.

Though I do not work for them, I would highly recommend reading the Skandia International content online (I am being prevented from posting the actual link here as some sort of spam prevention measure). Their online material on QROPS, portfolio bonds and other common expat investment vehicles is the best around.

  • I have found two websites very useful so far: www(dot)comparetheqropsmarket(dot)com

Great little site for comparing QROPS providors (sadly no meercats), also www(dot)stm-qrops(dot)com has a handy QROPS guide, so if your looking for more info these should be useful :rotfl:

It should become quite possible to transfer into the scheme of another EU member state

Then its a matter of picking one with a flat income tax rate when you take the benefits

These are all in eastern europe so there is a of a nagging worry about the money being nicked...

    ..plus its quite cold
