To leave or not to leave?

Hi all,

I am posting under a new user as my existing probably gives away my employer!

What would you all do in this situation?

I had a new boss start at work last year and have never really got along - many existing people left and new started. Late last year I began to struggle to get work done as required, had a meeting with boss who arranged for another person of same level as me to advise me. Boss also said that if I didnt get things to how he wanted them quickly things would get "difficult" and if I wanted to go he would pay my notice and I could just leave.

I followed procedures to manage one of my direct reports as set out by this advisor. But actions are not happening as fast as my boss wants so he is now starting to performance manage me.

I know that due to the nature of my job I will not be able to get everything to the required standard. I have stated I need further training/guidance to be able to do it as I dont know how, but I have had no reply.

I have a mortgage and debts to pay so cannot afford to be out of work, but the stress and worry is really starting to get to me.

Should I just take the offer of my notice and run and hope that I find a job before it runs out. Or sit it out and wait to see what the boss does?

My worry is that once I have disciplinary action on my file it will make a new job even harder to find, but in a job market like this will I find a job at all?

What would you do?

what industry/field are you in? Are you actively looking? Are there jobs out there which you have potential for? If you didnt work where you do now, what other potential employers could you consider, how are they trading/performing?

Even if you dont want to post the answers here, then these are the questions to consider.

For what it is worth, my hubby just got a job within 30 days of being made redundant, and last year I put in my notice with no job to go to, and had a job offer before the end of it - so it can be done, but you need to be confident about your potential market/willing to travel etc
  • Its retail, so not a fantastic sector to be in! There are jobs out there, but not many companies are really secure at the moment!
  • Im in a bit off a similar situation but a different area.

New boss, even though Im working my backside off but theirs simply too much work. Funny though shes also got time to performance manage me......

Think that must mean shes got f00k all to do so fills in her time 'streamlining' my job.

    You cant help morons...

Just thought I would give a quick update - I did hand my notice in and was asked to leave immediately with PILON.

Was really upset last week so didn't really do much, but threw myself into the job search last weekend. Resulted in quite a few interviews this week and I got offered a job today :j:j:j:j:j

Start week after next so can relax now for a week (or maybe do all those outstanding jobs around the house!!) before I start.

Just wanted to give hope to everyone searching!
