The BBC

Am I the only who is sick to death of the Beeb's bias since the coalition gov has come in?

There have been hundreds of examples, most recently the Merlin borrowing figures where missing the SMSE target by less than 2% and overall borrowing was above target by £26m. The beebs headline 'banks miss borrowing target by one billion'

Or today's headlines about the health reforms, not once do they mention that the 'bodies' not invited are actually health service unions who lets face it would vote against a pay rise if it came from the current Gov.

I love listening to the Beeb (radio 5 live especially), but its gone so left wing. Have they left too many copies of the Guardian in the staff room? Currently the worst offender is 'red' Victoria who drags on a poor public sector worker for any news story where they need a 'typical family'

I don't know how to get a pole going on here but I would be interested in other posters views of the BBC's balance.

If the BBC were a poster on MSE, they'd probably be in the Graham_Devon/homelessskilledworker/Dervprof camp.
If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.

I noticed something similar last week with their headline "Barclays profits down".

Barclays made an incredible 5bn profit in the period they were referring to...

I don't think so, they just recognise that the coalition needs challenging in order to deconstruct their web of lies.

They were no more sympathetic to Labour when they were in power - Iraq being a case in point.

Can you link to this please? All I can find is Barclays profits fall 3% to £5.9bn.

    Victoria Derbyshire?

She gets a lot of complaints. She doesn't even attempt to hide her opinions anymore. Which does actually make for interesting listening sometimes as she "writes off" guests on the phone ins depending on how she feels about the subject.

Shes very good at subtle put downs and makin someone completely reasonable look highly stupid.

That's the one. Why lead with "fall 3%"?

    Because they have fallen 3%.

This is very common in reporting on financial results. A profit of £6 gazillion is fantastic on its own, but if it represents a 96% fall then shareholders won't be pleased. Context is everything.

I have to laugh about this.

A few years ago I got told off on my OU course by my tutor because the BBC senior journalists quoted for a social sciences essay where "right" wing, and from the comments the tutor left she clearly didn't agree with their stance.

She wanted a nice "left" wing essay.

When I questioned her about it again mentioning my life events I briefly highlighted in the same essay she slightly changed her stance.

The BBC employ both right wing and left wing leaning journalists.

All governments and political parties complain about how they are treating them. Labour has complained about them recently.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

It's not just the BBC. I haven't come across a single decent unbiased and objective article outside the FT and The Economist for a long time.
Faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
