Hi - I am not sure if this is in the right place so if not please feel free to move it!
My 18 year old DS took out 3 payments from Wonga.com.:mad: He defaulted on one of the repayments and has been charged £8 by his bank for a 'guaranteed payment' (even though the money was in fact in his account when the payment went through).
We have now cleared the amount owing in full and his name has been marked that he can NEVER, EVER, borrow from them again. :j:j:j:j:j:j
He lives at home and we have an excellent credit rating, have never missed or been late for any payment in our lives so my concern is that we will now be blacklisted as we have the same address and to complicate matters my OH's and DS's names are the same but in reverse (don't think about this when you name a baby that has just been born:))
I was thinking whether it would be beneficial to wait, say, a month and then get a credit report to see if anything shows up, but do you think it would be a good idea to get one for my DS too.
I think he has learnt a very important lesson here and just hope that his credit rating won't be too affected if he wants any borrowing in the future - although at this moment in time, can't seem him needing a mortgage/loan for a long time yet.
Many thanks for any help you are able to give me

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying!:rotfl:

Credit scoring is against a person not an address so you have now worries there, even with the naming issue (which isn't a great one as credit agencies will record it properly).
You could get a credit report in a month or so to check if it would help comfort you.0 -
I would check the credit report just to be safe...
I'm a twin  and my mum was clever enoughto give us almost the exact same names, which meant our initials were MKH and MNH.
Fast forward 26 years later, we're living in the same house, trying to apply for credit... I don't exist because everything's on my sister's credit file! Even the council got us mixed up and changed my sister's middle name on the electoral roll and didn't add me like they were supposed to....
(Ended up changing my last name to stop all the confusion lol)
Of course your DS and OH don't share the same D.O.B so you might be okay, but still worth a check!!!..0 -
This has come to bite me. Applied for a new mobile phone contract for £8 per month and it was declined, so I assume that the Wonga business has been put against my name.
Not sure if this is correct but have heard that as I used my debit card, they (Wonga) have now linked me to his account? Am trying to get my report from Experian and waiting for the £2 report and also have asked for a free report from Equifax but am having terrible problems with them getting this information and even signing on. Have to phone an 0845 number each time and am then on there for ages being passed from one dept to another and it's driving me mad.:mad::mad:
Are there any other companies I need to approach just to make sure that my details are correct across the board? Thank you for any help, just worried that after having an excellent credit record for the last 30 years it has all gone to pot through no fault of my own:(When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling.
