Job interview and Presentation advice- Local Government.

Okay so I have to give a presentation on service option improvements in delivery of a street scene service in the current economical climate.

I would like a few ideas from folk who either work in this field or customers(which includes all of us) who have ideas on improving the service their council provides (cost effective as in saving money rather than spending) specifically street cleansing and grounds maintenance services.

Ive got several ideas but just incase I have missed anything Im really just after input from you guys. Thanks.

There will be a policy published somewhere on the direction of the service and the values of the Council, they may ask for new ideas and suggestions but in reality it is a political organisation, so they really want you to tell them how you would deliver on their objectives.

How about putting the recycling in the lorry and picking up the bits that fall out, rather than letting them blow away and litter the streets?

HUGE fines for those who throw rubbish out the car, then spend it on cleaning.

And in plain English?!?! Why couldn't they just put "how to keep the streets tidy without spending money"??
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • I did one of these council presentations once - they wanted specific examples of how the presenter would be able to assist in implementing those ideas rather than just ideas - so bear that in mind
