I have a credit card from Halifax and unsecured personal loan,no PPI. I keep being harrassed by phone from Halifax despite it was agreed i pay £1pm payment which i upped to £10pm once i was accused of missing a payment to which i wrote to Halifax head office and they duly sent me 3 payments cheque. I have now taken phone off the hook as 3 times yesterday and i am chronically sick and a pensioner- my blood pressure went up and i am still in pain from possible fracture due to long standing osteoporosis.

Argos put me over to a Debt Collection agency without any formal letter advising me at all despite i am still paying £10pm to them by Standing Order. Is this lawful? So far i've ignored Lowell Financial and cont'd with Standing Order payment to Argos...but not sure i want to now they sold me on without telling me.

Believe me majority of it all is high interest rates of which got frozen but not before Halifax used to hike on the interest which when told denied it..credit card is with Halifax Bank of Scotland and i once asked them for original signed consumer credit agreement but it never happened.

How on earth can i get rid of these debts since around 2003-somewhere in region of £25,000 tho might be bit less but not much, too ill to deal with all the files i have on it all at moment.

Have you had any advice from one of the debt advice charities? if not I would suggest you contact one of them to discuss your longer term options, IMPORTANT - Where to seek professional impartial advice about your debts.

Regarding halifax - keep paying what you can afford and send a letter to insist all future communication is in writing - template here - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=11571485&postcount=4

Regarding the argos debt collectors - if they've written to you asking you to pay them without argos informing you I would send the prove it letter to them to prove that they have a right to collect your debt. "Prove it" letter

When you say you asked for the original signed consumer credit agreement - do you mean you sent a formal request for a copy of your CCA on a template letter with the £1 fee you need to pay?
