Supermarket pricing on shelves

I am constantly frustrated that when I shop at Morrisons in lots of cases the prices of goods are not displayed on the shelf.
Surely the law must state that they show pricing? It seems this is done deliberately.

I have complained several times in Morrisons about this. Have picked up special offers and BOGOF's, only to be charged full or higher price. CS then say Oh it must have been put in wrong place,I'll move it.
Must be a common practice with them.0 -
I can never figure out if the price on the shelf is for the item on top or below........they seem to have an excuse for everything.Making money make sense...........:T0

You are not wrong. Morrisons and Asda constantly overcharge at the till. In Asda this is great when you FORCE them to give you your £2 voucher. Disingenuous b'stards0 -
Well guys i must admit when the deals do go bogof they put the price of the item up two weeks before it goes on offer so you never get it bogof sorry thats the way it goes0

I find this most frustrating too- how sad am I?
asda have a habit of leaving old prices on shelves where the product size has been altered a bit (5-10 grams extra say) and then arguing that the tag refers to a different product so will just give you a refund if you don't want the product. (their own brand seemed to have changed size suddenly all at once not too long ago).
i had this scenario the other day with gillette gel deoderant- the product size is 80 gr., the tag says 70 gr.- oh and the price went up by 1/3!
what makes me most annoyed is they didn't even take down the old price. I always leave feeling as if it was me who did something wrong by checking my receipt and querying it.0 -
I'm not sure it's illegal but I agree it really winds me up - I find Woolworths do this all the time. Price tags mssing all over the place. Do they want to sell things or not? Why should I hunt around for an assistant or queue at a till to find out a price? Also Sainsburys have the cheaper price displayed under their more expensive productds eg organic free range eggs when the price tag is for barn eggs. You've got to be really careful.0

It's not illegal to not show a price, but it is illegal for a shop to display the wrong price or discription of an item (ie advertise a bogof against an item when you don't) - I know 10+ yrs ago the fine was upto £1000 don't know what it is now
When I was school age myself and my sister went for the the usual weekly shop with my mum and took a calculator round with us, when it all went through the checkout the final price didn't tally with what we had so to my mums embarressment we made the checkout girl rescan everything again - turned out she'd scanned a loaf of bread 4 times. Makes you wonder how often it happens. I tend to do small shops where I can tally in my head what the final cost should be0 -
I decided to send a letter to the Office of Fair Trading over this. I haven't had a reply yet, but funnily enough went I went into Morrisons the other day it seemed to be alive with price tags everywhere?0
