Caravan help !

In June we brought a caravan from a dealer on black horse finance. The dealership is a large well know company in our town so we were rest assured that this was the best place to buy from. We were very green where caravans were concerned and went there on recommendations from friends who has dealt with them.
Since buying our circumstance have changed and we can no longer afford the caravan. We found a buyer who agreed to buy the caravan in exchange for paying off the finance. The new buyers did a C.R.I.S check on it but it has come back as unregistered. We double checked the paper work against the document with the caravan and the C.R.I.S sticker in the window and it didn’t match. The dealer said it was just a error in writing the details down.
The help I would like is this. The dealer told me yesterday that when he took the van in as a part exchange he didn’t do a HP check or C.R.I.S check as the sellers had an honest face , in mid 50’s and a disabled daughter. They traded it in as a part exchange.
We have phoned C.R.I.S to try and register the caravan but as its never been registered anywhere they have now launched an investigation so we can’t do anything and this could take up to 6 weeks.
The .C.R.I.S number is now wrong on the insurance and does not match the details on the finance
When we brought the caravan it came with 6 mths warranty and fully serviced.
If the finance company had know the caravan had never been traced / Hp checked ect. Would they have offered finance on it ?
When we brought the caravan we were told by the sales man it had one previous owner but the manager yesterday said he had no idea how he could have know this as they have no history. I then asked so you didn’t know any history. He said no but he trusted the sellers as they had upgraded with them and been in the store on many occasions
Is there anything we can do or have we just been very stupid.

I would speak to the finance company in the first instance. It could be that they have been misled by the dealer."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0

I read somwhere that in certain circumstances, (Such as this..) the finance company can be held just as liable as the dealer can be as its still 'their product' as to speak.. you can basically 'pass the buck' if it turns out to be stolen or such like. - I read it on here somwhere i think.Almost..debt free.. :P:money:0
