Sold Debt for Bank Charges

I'm aware that it's possible to reclaim charges for going overdrawn etc and this is what I plan to do (due to going 80pence overdrawn, and mounting charges, now owe over 200quid!!)
BUT, the bank appears to have sold the debt to a recovery agency... will this mean I can no longer try and reclaim the charges? o_O

I believe if you put it into dispute the debt company may have to put action on hold0

Hmm, will have to look in to that. Have just dl'ed the bank charges letter but obv it's Friday so...nothing can be done until Monday
Visiting the bank in person, good or bad idea?0 -
i would say a bad idea, the best way i would go about this is do some professional letters, always recorded deliver them as this way you have proof if the bank went back on they word if they did reverse the charges,
what u find in a bank, some woman just say her name is lisa will say yes we can do tha for u and next week or so you get a letteer saying they charged you again,
so u call the bank and say u spoke to lisa on **/02/2012 but all ov a sudden there never have been a lisa working in that branch...
sounds complicated but you got to be smart and wise, a bank will always riddle its self out of this situation untill u pay u debt, keep it in righting and keep all letters sent / recived as proof
also email is found to be quicker, free and also proof of contact0 -
Thanks for the replies
I realise there may not be a perfect solution to all this but I figured I may as well try as OH doesn't even open the letters anymore! Head...Sand?? *shakes head*
Right, I've filled in the MSE Bank Charges template but I have a couple of issues.
1) I don't know the bank account info - I've done a Lost Account app on that other website but that can take ages, right?
2) Emailwise - Barclays doesn't seem to have a direct email to anyone important, there is a emailform but then I get no proof of sending.
3) Are things like this dealt with via individual branch or higher up? I have the address for the branch the account was held with, but I don't want to send it to them if it should really go to Head Office for example
FTR, this isn't recent recent so...when is the cut off period for reclaiming charges?0
