Mesh Computers

I agree customer service is useless.
Hubby paid extra for an upgraded DVD drive, but when it arrived, it just had the basic drive in it. Mesh wanted us to pack up the whole PC and send it back to them, so they could replace the drive, but hubby needed the PC for work. An additional cable he ordered was also missing, so they had to send a one out in the post.
They then agreed to sending out an engineer to swop the drive over, but he didn't have any software. We're still waiting for Mesh to send the software that should have been bundled with the upgraded drive. Luckily hubby managed to find the drivers for the drive on the manufacturers website, so at least he can use it.
We were also promised a free Vista upgrade but that never arrived either, and the PC was very noisy as something wasn't fastened in securely inside so it caused a rattle. That was easy solved by opening the case and pressing all the components to find the rattly one, but no good if you are not confident about opening the case. Here I go again on my own....0 -
We had a MESH computer that lasted just over a couple of years when the mother-board died rendering it useless.
We now have a Dell laptop at home which is great, we got it from the Dell outlet store where you can get Dell PCs cheaper than their mainline store and often higher spec than the basic advertised models.
My work laptop is also a Dell and seems great too.

I've got one and so do 2 of my brothers. They work fine. Mine is 2 years old and I think my brothers are about 7 years old.
I had a colleague whose hard drive died after 8 months and he got it replaced as it was still in warranty.
One of my brother's had a problem with the Windows Software License activation number. First Mesh said there was nothing wrong and so they got me around to check it. This wasted 14 days. Then after admitting it was wrong instead of sending him a new number in the post, his wife and him had to pack up the entire computer and wait for a delivery man to come and pick it up. The first time the person didn't turn up even though my brother's wife waited in all day. The delivery company pretended they did but due to how their house layout is it is impossible to visit them without being seen from the living room window, as the living room is next to the front door. The second time they did turn up and after 7 days they got their computer back. (By the way this same courier company did this recently to me with an order from a different company.)
It's seems with all companies that Mesh are let down by:
1. Ineffective customer services operators
2. The courier companies they use for delivery and collectionI'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -

Have had two. First one was fine. Second one developed a motherboard fault after a few weeks, Mesh did fix it on-site under the warranty, but it was a bit of a saga getting customer support to do something. Took ages to get anyone, then, each time you had to repeat the whole story to a different person.
Mind you , this appears to be quite common, whoever you buy from.0 -
Bought a Mesh 7 years ago, failed after 1 hour, motherboard died or so the engineer said. Had all kinds of problems with customer services ( or lack of). Went back for repaire no problem since.
Bottom line; good products, however, should you have any problems 'after care' must be a concern.0 -

So that's three of us so far that have had problems with MESH motherboards!!!

Mine's nearly as old - Yes! They're pretty damn good.Maisie wrote:I have a Mesh which is 10 years old this year. Yes I know I need to update but it works well and I haven't had any problems.
I specified my own mix of components, they built it, and where they hadn't got one particular bit they substituted a better one!
Price was great. Delivery quick. Setup painless. Machine still sings, even on Win98SE!!!
Yeah, yeah, it'll get replaced one day, soon?0 -
bought my first Mesh pc back in 2000, have bought two more since and would have no hesitations in recomending them to others, bought an acer laptop though, as it was cheaper, that did develop a fault and it was collected, repaired and returned in 36 hours ! So cant fault acer customer service.*Spendi*

I bought a Mesh in 1999 which is still going strong though their customer service was a bit stroppy when I had an issue with their finance figures in the early days.
My wife uses the Mesh while I have a Dell desktop and notebook, both of which I love. I've had a number of Dells at work over the past 10 years and I have to say I think their kit is fantastic value for money. Touch wood, never had a serious problem with any Dell or the Mesh, so I'd go with either.
Personally I'd never buy a PC from PCWorld."I don't mind if a chap talks rot. But I really must draw the line at utter rot." - PG Wodehouse0
