Old loan - no records?
Please help im trying to find where an old loan has gone.
I took out a loan in 2002 with a bank and was unable to repay this back. I got lots of letters over the years but did not respond stupidly.
I am very concerned at what to do next. I have checked Equifax and experian and there is nothing on there.. i have really good credit due to great CC records over the last 6 years.
where to i go next and how do i know if i have a CCJ??
Thanks

What you do now is absolutely nothing apart from get on with the rest of your life. :j
You probably had a default on your credit file, which would have been there for 6 years the automatically dropped off the file after 6 years.
If you ever have anyone chasing you for any payment, just come back on here for reassurance.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

yes i defintiley had defaults from the payments i owed. but what about the money i owed to the agencies that chased me with red letter etc?0

Assuming no CCJ was ever obtained (which they usually aren't), then the debts would be statute barred by now. They could ask you to pay, but can do nothing if you refuse.

So stop worrying,
You still owe the money but they cannot chase you for it.
Move along there:D

The blue link in Fermi's post explains what a statute barred debt is, and that if it is statute barred they cannot obtain a CCJ (that it is statute barred is sufficent defence alone, even if you owe the money)A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
